PESHAWAR (Bakhabar Pakistan) – Bushra Bibi, the wife of PTI founder Imran Khan, arrived in Peshawar on Thursday after being released from Adiala Jail in connection with the Toshakhana-II case.
Following her release, Bushra Bibi made a brief stop at Bani Gala before proceeding to Peshawar, where arrangements had already been made for her stay at the Chief Minister’s House in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja announced via the social media platform X that Bushra Bibi would be residing in Peshawar instead of Zaman Park, Lahore.
According to party insiders, Bushra Bibi is scheduled for a medical check-up at Shaukat Khanum Hospital in Peshawar and is likely to meet with KP Chief Minister Gandapur and other party leaders during her stay.
Earlier, Bushra Bibi was released from Adiala Jail after the Islamabad High Court (IHC) granted her bail in the Toshakhana case. The judicial staff, armed with her release order, arrived at Gate 5 of Adiala Jail, waiting for the necessary procedures to be completed.
An accountability court in Islamabad issued her release orders after a 24-hour delay due to Senior Special Judge Central Shahrukh Arjumand and Special Judge Central-2 Hamayun Dilawar being unavailable after the IHC had granted her bail.
PTI lawyers had argued that they were unable to submit surety bonds as no court officials were present during working hours. Bushra Bibi’s legal team approached Administrative Judge Jawad Abbas, but he too had left the court.
Bushra Bibi had been imprisoned for nearly nine months, after being sentenced to 14 years in the Toshakhana case on January 31. Following the court’s decision, she surrendered and was arrested. Initially held at her Banigala residence, after it was declared a prison by the Islamabad commissioner, she was later transferred to Adiala Jail at her own request. The IHC eventually suspended her sentence, ordering her release. However, she was rearrested after a second case was filed against her.
