Seven people, including five schoolchildren, were killed and several others injured in a blast in Mastung.

A tragic bomb blast occurred near the Girls High School at Civil Hospital Chowk in Mastung district, Balochistan, on Friday, resulting in the loss of seven lives and injuring 20 others. Among the deceased were five schoolchildren, a policeman, and a passerby. The blast, which targeted a police mobile van, inflicted significant damage on vehicles and rickshaws in the area, leaving devastation in its wake.

Local authorities reported that the injured included a large number of schoolchildren. Rescue teams, along with police, promptly reached the scene and transferred both the injured and the deceased to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ). Hospital officials confirmed that while the policeman and three children were already dead upon arrival, three more individuals succumbed to their injuries during treatment. The blast’s powerful sound reverberated through nearby areas, causing panic among the residents.

The explosion severely impacted the police van, leaving it completely destroyed, while several other vehicles and rickshaws sustained extensive damage. Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos and destruction, with people scrambling to help the injured and assess the damage.

In response to this tragic incident, Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives. He conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families, emphasizing that those responsible for such heinous acts would face justice. The chief minister urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to help thwart future terrorist actions.
