Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court has adjourned indefinitely the hearing of appeals filed against the sentences handed down to former Prime Minister Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in the £190 million case.

A two-member bench headed by Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar heard the appeals. Barrister Salman Safdar appeared before the court on behalf of Imran Khan.

During the proceedings, Salman Safdar raised the issue of road closures and severe traffic congestion in Islamabad. He said he had managed to reach the court, but Barrister Latif Khosa could not appear due to the blocked roads and traffic disruptions.

The lawyer informed the court that a petition had also been filed before the Federal Constitutional Court challenging an earlier judicial order in connection with the case. According to Salman Safdar, the petition is expected to be taken up next week.

He argued that proceeding with the appeals before the Islamabad High Court could render the petition before the Federal Constitutional Court ineffective.

Referring to the prevailing political situation in Islamabad, Salman Safdar said the political temperature was rising amid ongoing negotiations and argued that the case should not have been fixed at such a time.

The lawyer also requested that arrangements be made for a meeting with his client, stating that communication with Bushra Bibi had been disrupted since December 2025.

After hearing the arguments, the Islamabad High Court adjourned the hearing of the appeals indefinitely.
