ISLAMABAD: An Islamabad district and sessions court has issued a show-cause notice over an allegedly fake transaction receipt in a case involving national wrestler Athar Zahid’s Rs50 million investment dispute. The court has also summoned the Station House Officer (SHO) of Shalimar Police Station for the next hearing.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Ali Warraich heard the application seeking registration of a case. Advocate Sher Afzal Marwat appeared on behalf of the petitioner.

Marwat told the court that the accused had submitted a fake transaction receipt. Following the submission, the court issued a show-cause notice and directed the SHO of Shalimar Police Station to appear at the next hearing. The proceedings were adjourned until October 28.

According to the application, Athar Zahid invested Rs50 million with Pir Asim Ali Shah in 2022. The petitioner stated that he received returns for approximately three years but that payments stopped when he sought the return of his original investment.

Zahid further alleged that he was arrested through the NCCIA in connection with his demand for the return of the principal amount. He also claimed that the accused was presenting previously paid profits as the original investment.

Speaking to the media, Zahid said he had won international wrestling championship titles in 2024 and 2025, defeating an Indian opponent to bring honour to Pakistan.

He expressed gratitude to the Pakistani public for their support and said he would continue his legal struggle to obtain justice. He also thanked Sher Afzal Marwat for supporting him and appearing in court on his behalf.

Zahid further expressed concern that other individuals might also have been affected by similar alleged fraud.
