LAHORE: The Lahore High Court has disposed of a petition seeking the recovery of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s sisters, Aleema Khan, Uzma Khan and Noreen Niazi, in light of a report submitted by the Home Secretary.
Justice Abhar Gul Khan heard the petition filed by Shahraiz. During the hearing, the Punjab government’s counsel informed the court that the detention of the three women had been extended for another 30 days. The counsel stated that the extension was granted on October 7.
Petitioner’s counsel Rana Mudassar Umar requested the court to order the recovery of Aleema Khan, Uzma Khan and Noreen Niazi and direct that they be presented before the court.
The court observed that the detention notification had been issued by the Deputy Commissioner (DC), but the DC had not been made a party to the petition. The judge further remarked that the court could not issue an order beyond the scope of the petition.
During the proceedings, Rana Mudassar Umar said he was aware that the 26th and 27th Constitutional Amendments could pose an obstacle in the matter.
Uzma Khan’s husband, Ahad Khan, and Aleema Khan’s son were also present in court during the hearing.
The court subsequently disposed of the petition in light of the Home Secretary’s report.
