Import Live Gold Rates into Excel

No plugin or add-in needed — use Excel's built-in Power Query feature to pull BaKhabar Pakistan's verified, auto-updating gold rates straight into your spreadsheet

Who this is for

Accountants and finance professionals tracking clients' gold holdings, jewelers maintaining their own pricing sheets, and anyone building a spreadsheet model that needs a live rate without manually checking and typing it in every day.

Step-by-Step Guide

1

Open Excel and go to the Data tab

Click the "Data" tab in the ribbon at the top of Excel.

2

Choose Get Data → From Web

Click "Get Data" → "From Other Sources" → "From Web" (on newer versions of Excel, "From Web" may appear directly on the Data tab).

3

Paste this link

When asked for a URL, paste the address below and click OK.

https://bakhabarpakistan.com/en/finance/gold-rates/api/
4

Click on "[Record]"

Excel will first show you the outer data (date, status, source). The actual 24K/22K/21K/18K rates are nested inside — click directly on the word "[Record]" next to "rates" to expand it.

5

Click Load / "Close & Load"

You'll now see all the rates loaded as a proper Excel table, one row per karat, ready to reference in formulas elsewhere in your workbook.

6

Turn on auto-refresh

In the "Queries & Connections" panel on the right, right-click your query → Properties → tick "Refresh every X minutes" and/or "Refresh data when opening the file." This is what turns a one-time snapshot into a live, always-current sheet.

Note: The underlying data is cached for 15 minutes and updated 4x daily (10AM, 1PM, 4PM, 7PM PKT). There's no need to set Excel's refresh interval to every minute — every 30-60 minutes is more than enough to stay current.
