BIRMINGHAM : England defeated Pakistan by eight wickets in the third and final Test to complete a 3-0 series sweep.

Chasing a target of 130 runs on the fourth day, England reached the required total for the loss of just two wickets. Captain Joe Root led the chase with an unbeaten 62, while Jordan Cox remained not out on 59.

Pakistan's fast bowler Mohammad Abbas provided an early breakthrough by dismissing England's opening batters, but the hosts recovered quickly and comfortably completed the run chase.

Earlier, Pakistan were bowled out for 449 runs on the third day. A crucial 121-run partnership between debutant Raza Ullah and Mohammad Abbas helped Pakistan build a competitive total.

Peter Den Lawrence was named Player of the Match, while England fast bowler Ollie Robinson and Pakistan's Mohammad Abbas shared the Player of the Series award.

The result marked Pakistan's first Test series whitewash in England, adding to a disappointing campaign for the visitors.
