Pakistan Test team head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed has said he was unaware of the interview featuring former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s sons, Qasim Khan and Sulaiman Khan, stressing that the team’s focus remains firmly on cricket.

During the lunch break on the opening day of the ongoing Test between Pakistan and England at Lord’s, a British broadcaster aired an interview with Qasim Khan and Sulaiman Khan. The interview was conducted by former England captain Michael Atherton.

According to media reports, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) expressed displeasure over the broadcast. There were also reports suggesting that Pakistan’s return to the field after the interval was delayed.

Speaking to reporters after the end of the second day’s play at Lord’s, Sarfaraz Ahmed said he had no knowledge of the matter and was also unaware of any complaint allegedly made by the PCB to English cricket authorities.

He said the team had been preparing to return to the field as usual after the lunch break and that the interview had not caused any disruption or delay to the team’s preparations.

Sarfaraz Ahmed Defends Pakistan Players

Commenting on the team’s performance, Sarfaraz Ahmed acknowledged that some players had not performed as expected but rejected the idea of putting all the blame on the players.

“This is our team, and Pakistan’s best players are part of it,” he said.

The head coach pointed out that players including Mohammad Rizwan, Saud Shakeel and Salman Ali Agha had previously delivered strong performances for Pakistan.

He added that if the players were currently struggling for runs, he would continue to support them as head coach.

Sarfaraz Ahmed said the team’s performance would be reviewed after the series. Discussions would then be held with the players before decisions were made about who would remain in the squad and where changes might be required.
