Frequently Asked Questions
How is my electricity bill calculated in Pakistan?

Your bill is calculated based on slab rates set by NEPRA. The more units you consume, the higher the per-unit rate. Each slab has a different rate, and your total is the sum across all applicable slabs plus fixed charges, taxes, and surcharges.

Which DISCO am I connected to?

Check the top of your electricity bill — it shows your distribution company name. IESCO covers Islamabad/Rawalpindi, LESCO covers Lahore, FESCO covers Faisalabad, and so on. K-Electric covers Karachi.

Are electricity rates the same across all DISCOs?

Residential tariffs are currently uniform across all XWDISCOs and K-Electric. However, surcharges and adjustments may vary slightly.

Is solar worth it in Pakistan?

Pakistan has excellent solar potential (5–7.5 peak sun hours depending on city). With rising electricity prices, most on-grid solar systems pay for themselves in 3–6 years, after which electricity is essentially free for 20+ more years.

How can I reduce my electricity bill?

Use energy-efficient appliances (inverter ACs, LED bulbs), shift heavy usage to off-peak hours, stay within lower consumption slabs, and consider solar panels. Our appliance calculator shows exactly which devices cost you the most.
