How many units does an AC use per month?
A 1.5 ton inverter AC running 8 hours/day uses approximately 288 units/month. A non-inverter AC of the same tonnage uses about 336 units. Running ACs for fewer hours or using a higher thermostat setting (26°C instead of 22°C) can significantly reduce consumption.
How do I calculate electricity units from watts?
Units (kWh) = Watts × Hours × Days ÷ 1000. For example, a 75W ceiling fan running 14 hours/day for 30 days = 75 × 14 × 30 ÷ 1000 = 31.5 units/month. Our calculator does this automatically for every appliance you add.
Which appliance uses the most electricity in Pakistan?
Air conditioners are the biggest consumers, often accounting for 40-60% of summer bills. Electric geysers (2000W), room heaters (1500W), and irons (1200W) are also heavy consumers but typically run for fewer hours.
Does inverter AC really save electricity?
Yes. An inverter AC uses 30-50% less electricity than a non-inverter of the same tonnage because it adjusts compressor speed instead of constantly starting and stopping. The savings increase with longer running hours.
How many units does a fridge use per month?
A standard medium refrigerator uses about 36 units/month (150W × 8 effective hours × 30 days ÷ 1000). Inverter fridges use even less — around 24 units/month. The compressor doesn't run continuously; 8 hours is the average effective running time.
