Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has announced plans to intensify its political campaign for the release of party founder Imran Khan from August 5. Aleema Khan has also called upon party workers, office-bearers and supporters to unite and strengthen the movement for his release.

There appears to be no disagreement within the party over the central demand for Imran Khan’s freedom. However, PTI leaders have emphasized that all demonstrations should remain peaceful, disciplined and within constitutional limits. The party wants to avoid any situation that could endanger workers or be used to weaken its political campaign.

PTI maintains that Imran Khan has been subjected to political victimization and that the party will continue its struggle on political, public and legal fronts. The proposed August 5 activities are intended to mobilize public support and increase peaceful pressure for his release and for what the party describes as the restoration of constitutional and democratic rights.

At the same time, Imran Khan’s legal team and family members continue to approach the courts over his detention, access to legal counsel, prison conditions and restrictions on meetings. This demonstrates that PTI considers the judicial process an essential part of its broader strategy.

Aleema Khan’s appeal and the party leadership’s position share the same objective: securing Imran Khan’s release. The difference lies mainly in the method and pace of the campaign. While Aleema Khan has called for stronger public mobilization, party leaders appear determined to ensure that any protest remains organized and lawful.

The August 5 movement is therefore expected to become an important political test for PTI. The party aims to combine public support, peaceful political action and legal proceedings in order to advance the demand for Imran Khan’s release without exposing its workers to unnecessary confrontation.
