Islamabad : Imaan Mazari and Hadi Chatha have filed a petition in the Supreme Court challenging the Islamabad High Court’s decision.

The petitioners have requested an immediate halt to the trial, arguing that if the proceedings are not suspended, their pending petition before the Islamabad High Court could become ineffective.

They stated that the trial court recorded the statements of prosecution witnesses in a single day and initiated the trial in haste without providing adequate time.

The petitioners maintained that removing security barriers does not constitute terrorism. They further alleged that the trial was intended to harass them and pursue political revenge, claiming that the actual objective was to keep the accused in jail.

On October 19, the Islamabad High Court rejected the request for interim relief on petitions seeking the removal of anti-terrorism charges. However, it issued notices on the plea to suspend the trial.
