Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar said Imran Khan was initially supposed to be taken to Shifa International Hospital. However, he was instead taken to PIMS Hospital because of security concerns caused by PTI supporters on the route to and outside the hospital.

According to Mr Tarar, a team of qualified doctors, including specialists in cardiology, ophthalmology and general medicine, conducted a detailed medical examination of Imran Khan at PIMS. Doctors from Shifa International Hospital were also present during the examination.

The minister said the doctors found Imran Khan medically fit. He was subsequently transferred back to Adiala Jail at around 05:00 local time on 21 August.

Imran Khan's sister, Uzma Khan, was present throughout the medical examination and treatment process.

Mr Tarar said medical facilities had been provided to Imran Khan in the past and would continue to be provided whenever required.
