LAHORE: The Lahore High Court has sought a report by October 12 regarding the provision of medicines, clothing and other basic necessities to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s sisters, Aleema Khan, Uzma Khan and Noreen Niazi, in jail.
Justice Abher Gul Khan heard a petition filed by Aleema Khan’s son, Shahrez. Advocate Rana Mudassar Umar appeared on behalf of the petitioner.
During the hearing, the counsel requested the court to hear the main petition challenging the sisters’ detention alongside the miscellaneous applications seeking better facilities in jail.
Justice Abher Gul Khan remarked that medicines and clothes should first be provided, adding that the main petition could be heard afterward.
Advocate Rana Mudassar Umar told the court that 19 days had passed and concerns regarding the provision of medicines and clothing remained unresolved. He maintained that some items had previously been provided pursuant to a court order.
The court directed the counsel to submit a written list of the required items, observing that only those articles specifically permitted by the court would be allowed inside the jail.
The petitioner’s counsel requested permission for the provision of medicines, clothing, books and food items to Aleema Khan, Uzma Khan and Noreen Niazi. However, Justice Abher Gul Khan declined to allow food items.
The court sought a report on the miscellaneous applications concerning the provision of basic facilities and directed that it be submitted on October 12.
During the proceedings, the judge also asked the counsel to decide whether he wished to proceed first with arguments on the main petition challenging the detention or pursue the miscellaneous applications seeking basic facilities in jail.
