Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has stressed the need to reduce political tensions, saying that if anything is to be done for the country, the nation and democracy, efforts must be made to ease the prevailing situation.

Speaking to the media, Barrister Gohar said Maulana Fazlur Rehman has his own political party and political agenda . He added that after Maulana's speech in the Assembly, he had told him that it would have been more appropriate if certain words had not been used.

He said political tensions should not increase and added that the response given by government representatives was also inappropriate.

Barrister Gohar described Salman Safdar's recent meeting as a positive development, saying it was the first meeting since April 8 and had taken place after 380 days. He said the suspension of meetings had contributed to significant tension.

He maintained that preventing a prisoner from meeting their family for 15 days amounts to a violation of human rights. According to him, regular meetings could have improved the situation and prevented the level of tension that has emerged.

The PTI chairman said he had already denied reports that his name had been finalised for the meeting. He added that he had consistently tried to facilitate meetings between political leaders and had also attempted to include his own name and that of Allama Nasir Abbas.

He said that when political meetings could not take place, efforts were made to arrange a meeting through Salman Safdar, which eventually took place.

Regarding the missing Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the provincial Assembly Speaker, Barrister Gohar said the matter was heard at the Peshawar High Court and referred to a larger bench. He expressed hope that the case would be heard soon, adding that the disappearance of the Chief Minister and the Speaker was difficult to understand.

Barrister Gohar said the meeting with PTI founder Imran Khan was also necessary for the party. According to Salman Safdar, Imran Khan was aware of the situation concerning the emergency and Governor's Rule. However, he said that there was not much political discussion during the meeting.

He added that Salman Safdar did not bring back any such statement that could be turned into a major political news story.

Barrister Gohar rejected reports suggesting that Imran Khan had said it was good that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had been dismissed. He clarified that no such statement was made during the meeting.

He said political victimisation was at its peak and posed a threat to democracy. He reiterated that PTI had repeatedly stated its support for the state and Pakistan.

Commenting on the imprisonment of Imran Khan's sisters, Barrister Gohar said he considered the imprisonment of non-political sisters a wrong act. He also said that at his request, Noreen Niazi was kept in the hospital for one additional day.

He further revealed that efforts were being made to organise an All Parties Conference.

Addressing reports of differences within PTI's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa parliamentary party, he said all provincial lawmakers remained with Imran Khan and there was no forward bloc.

He added that no provincial assembly member would suddenly come forward to become Chief Minister. The position was very important, and if such a situation arose, the final decision would be made by Imran Khan.

Barrister Gohar also said PTI had never supported an anti-state narrative on social media. He stated that the party openly considers the government, the armed forces and the state as its own, adding: "Pakistan comes first, and politics comes after that."

Regarding Imran Khan's health, the PTI chairman reiterated that the party's demand was for the PTI founder to receive proper medical treatment and for his personal doctors to be given access to him.

He clarified that no discussion had taken place about Imran Khan's transfer, either to Bani Gala or to Islamabad Jail.
