Silver Rate in Pakistan Today — 12 Sep 2026

How Silver Rates Are Set in Pakistan

Silver prices in Pakistan are published daily by the All Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA) based in Karachi. The rate is derived from the international silver spot price (XAG/USD) multiplied by the USD/PKR exchange rate. Unlike gold, silver is widely used both as jewellery and in industrial applications, including electronics, solar panels, and medical devices — which means silver demand has both investment and industrial drivers.

Silver and Zakat

The nisab for zakat on silver is 52.5 tolas (612.36 grams) of pure silver. If you have owned this much silver for one full lunar year, zakat is due at 2.5% of its current market value. At today's rate, the silver nisab threshold is approximately Rs. 6,794 × 52.5 tolas. Note that many scholars use the silver nisab as the threshold for overall zakat on wealth (cash, savings, stocks), since it results in a lower threshold than the gold nisab — consult your scholar for guidance.

Silver Measurement — Tola, Gram, and Troy Ounce

Silver in Pakistan is sold by the tola and by the gram. One Pakistani tola equals 11.6638 grams. One troy ounce equals 31.1035 grams, approximately 2.667 Pakistani tolas. Silver utensils and bulk purchases are typically priced per tola, while jewellery may also be sold per gram. Unlike gold, silver does not have common karat variations — it is sold as fine silver (99.9% pure) or sterling silver (92.5% pure, alloyed with copper for durability).

Frequently Asked Questions
