Islamabad: The alleged preparation of fake medico-legal certificates at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad has come to light, leading to the arrest of three staff members, including a lady doctor.

The details were disclosed in a written reply submitted by the Ministry of Interior in response to a question raised in the National Assembly.

According to the Ministry of Interior, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) conducted a raid after receiving information about the preparation of fake medico-legal certificates. During the operation, marked currency worth Rs50,000 was also recovered from a suspect identified as Muhammad Usman. An assistant from the hospital's mortuary has also been named in the case.

The written reply stated that the suspects allegedly worked together to prepare fake medico-legal certificates by creating artificial wounds and presenting them as genuine injuries. Evidence in the form of WhatsApp chats, voice notes and bank receipts was also recovered from the suspects' mobile phones.

The Ministry further stated that there were concerns that cases may have been registered at various police stations on the basis of these allegedly forged certificates.

According to the reply, an FIA employee was presented as an injured person during the operation. An alleged deal worth Rs250,000 was reportedly negotiated to make artificial wounds appear genuine.

The Ministry of Interior stated that WhatsApp conversations, voice notes and bank receipts supported the allegations in the case.
