ISLAMABAD : Payments to petrol pumps under the Prime Minister’s Petrol Relief Scheme have started, according to the Petrol Pump Owners Association.

The association said that Rs12.2365 million has been paid to 868 petrol pumps against their claims for September 16. The full claimed amount has been transferred to the respective accounts of the 868 petrol pumps.

Under the relief scheme, registered citizens are being provided petrol at a subsidized rate, with a relief of Rs100 per litre.

The digital system for the scheme is operational, enabling registered citizens to receive the subsidy at fuel stations across the country. Real-time monitoring of the distribution of the government relief is also underway.

Minister of State for IT Shaza Fatima said that around one million people have so far registered to receive benefits under the petrol relief scheme.
