ISLAMABAD: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has formally indicted lawyers Iman Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha in a case related to the removal of barriers.
The proceedings were conducted by ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Supra, with both Iman Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha appearing before the court via video link.
During the hearing, Hadi Ali Chattha objected that he had still not been provided with copies of the case documents. He argued that charges could not legally be framed until all required legal formalities had been completed.
Their lawyer, Zainab Janjua, also opposed the framing of charges, stating that neither Iman Mazari nor Hadi Ali Chattha had received copies of the case documents or been given an opportunity to meet their lawyers.
Despite the objections, the court proceeded to formally indict both accused. During an exchange with Zainab Janjua, Judge Tahir Abbas Supra observed that the court order could be challenged.
The court directed that Iman Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha be produced before the court in person at the next hearing and summoned prosecution witnesses.
The hearing was adjourned until October 9.
