Jamaat-e-Islami Launches Nationwide Protests Across Pakistan Against Fuel Levy and Rising Petroleum Prices

**Islamabad:** Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has launched a nationwide protest campaign against the petroleum levy, additional taxes on fuel, and the rising cost of living, organizing demonstrations and sit-ins across Pakistan on Friday.

According to a statement issued by the party, protests are being held in **170 districts** at **510 different locations**, where supporters will stage sit-ins and temporarily block major highways and roads. The campaign is aimed at pressuring the government to reduce petroleum prices and provide relief to citizens struggling with inflation.

The party has announced demonstrations at key locations in all major cities. In **Lahore**, sit-ins will be held at **Qurtaba Chowk** and **Mazang Chungi**. In **Karachi**, protesters will gather on **Shahrah-e-Faisal**, while in **Islamabad**, the demonstration will take place at **26 Number Chungi**.

In **Peshawar**, Jamaat-e-Islami workers will stage a protest near the **Motorway Toll Plaza**, while in **Multan**, the sit-in is planned at **Chungi No. 6**. Demonstrations are also scheduled outside **Liaquat Bagh in Rawalpindi**, on **Mian Ghundi Road in Quetta**, at **Chakdara in Swat**, and along the **Indus Highway in Karak**.

The party said the nationwide protests are being organized to oppose the increasing burden of inflation and repeated hikes in petroleum product prices, which it says have significantly affected ordinary citizens.

According to the announced schedule, the demonstrations will begin after **Friday prayers** and continue until **8:00 p.m.** across the country.

Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer **Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman** is expected to address the main sit-in in **Lahore**, while his speech will also be broadcast live via video link at protest sites nationwide.

The party further announced that Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman will unveil the movement's **next course of action at 8:00 p.m.**, outlining future plans if the government's economic policies remain unchanged.

Jamaat-e-Islami has urged supporters and the public to participate peacefully in the demonstrations, describing the campaign as a nationwide movement against inflation, excessive taxation, and rising fuel prices.
