**ISLAMABAD:** The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, through the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), has introduced a number of training and employment-oriented schemes aimed at enhancing the employability of young people and creating more job opportunities in Pakistan’s information technology sector.

In a written response to a question raised by Member of the National Assembly Shahida Rehmani, the National Assembly was informed that the government is implementing various initiatives to improve the employment prospects and professional skills of IT graduates and young professionals.

According to the written reply, the Prime Minister’s initiatives provide internships, professional certifications, IT boot camps and software skills training to IT startups and graduates to improve their employability and help them enter the technology workforce.

The government further stated that specialized skills development programmes are being implemented under the National Semiconductor Human Resource Development Programme. These initiatives, along with semiconductor education and research programmes, are aimed at developing a skilled workforce for the emerging semiconductor industry.

The written response said that the IT ecosystem is also being strengthened through internships, international certifications, industry-led training, programmes aimed at bridging the industry-academia gap and capacity-building initiatives in emerging technologies.

Under a pilot project focused on semiconductor chip-design skills, graduates have been provided specialized training in semiconductor chip design and verification. The initiative is intended to prepare graduates for careers in the semiconductor industry.

According to the ministry, the semiconductor chip-design skills project was developed in 2025.

The government said that these initiatives are aimed at equipping young people with modern technology skills, improving their employability, strengthening Pakistan’s IT ecosystem and creating new employment opportunities in the technology sector. The programmes are also expected to contribute to the development of skilled human resources and the growth of Pakistan’s IT exports.
