PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has issued a strong challenge to the federal authorities, saying they should either impose an emergency or enforce Governor’s Rule.

In a statement posted on social media platform X, formerly Twitter, Afridi said there was no option other than accepting his demands. He warned that taking such measures without formally declaring an emergency or imposing Governor’s Rule would amount to rebellion.

Afridi challenged the relevant authorities to show courage and formally announce an emergency or Governor’s Rule. He maintained that he would not back down from his constitutional and legal demands and that the long march would continue in accordance with the law until those demands were met.

He further stated that only Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s policy would prevail. According to Afridi, if an emergency or Governor’s Rule were imposed, people would forget the example of Turkey.

Afridi’s statement reflects his firm stance against the possible imposition of emergency rule or Governor’s Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He reiterated his determination to continue the long march until his demands are fulfilled.
