Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader and former MNA Hammad Azhar has been arrested by police, according to police sources.
Police sources said Azhar was taken into custody near RA Bazaar in Lahore from the residence of a close friend. He was subsequently handed over to Lahore Police for further legal proceedings.
According to police claims, Hammad Azhar has been nominated in several cases related to the May 9, 2023 incidents and had been declared a proclaimed offender since May 9, 2023.
Sources further stated that Azhar had resigned from his party position following the registration of cases against him. The PTI had previously entrusted him with the responsibility of serving as the party's Punjab president.
