ISLAMABAD: Key recommendations of the initial inquiry report into the PIMS tragedy have been presented to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, sources said.
According to sources, the inquiry committee has recommended the immediate removal of Executive Director PIMS Dr. Imran Sikandar, along with nine other officers and relevant staff members, from their respective positions.
The committee, headed by former Interior Secretary Shahid Khan, reportedly held the officials responsible for negligence and lack of due diligence in connection with the incident.
Sources said the list of officials facing removal also includes five senior officers of PIMS.
The report reportedly incorporates recommendations from Acting Secretary Captain (retd.) Mahmood. According to the committee's findings, PIMS was being operated in an extremely unprofessional manner, with the institution lacking an effective administrative structure.

The inquiry committee has recommended appointing competent and professional officers in place of those removed to improve the hospital's administrative and operational performance.
The committee has also proposed the establishment of a formal Governing Board for PIMS to oversee the institution's affairs and ensure effective governance.
The report further recommends regular monitoring of PIMS and the establishment of a clear administrative structure to ensure the hospital is managed effectively.
Sources said further action on the inquiry committee's recommendations is expected after approval from the relevant authorities. A final decision regarding the officials held responsible will be taken by the competent authorities.
